"I am Summer and these are my Sinners!" begins every show and the promise of the musical journey ahead is pledged.
Summer's own personal journey has known its ups and downs along the way, and she has developed a grip on the blues that can't be denied. From the earliest childhood inspiration in California belting out pop tunes for friends, family and anyone that would listen, Summer's own trademark style has come about from absorbing the influences of the greats: Big Mama Thornton, Mavis Staples, Aretha Franklin, Etta James and Koko Taylor.
Creating her own sound and band took years of struggle and practice. As her reputation and abilities grew, she was able to attract professional players and gain access to showcase stages that had previously eluded her. Since teaming up with her musical and life partner Buddy Love, opportunities began to present themselves. Soon the band recorded their first CD, which gained world-wide acceptance within weeks of being released in 2004.
Boogie With the Devil shows a remarkable maturation process taking place. The future of the blues is in good hands!
